Mechanical Governors
Mechanical Governors, sometimes referred to as Centrifugal Governors, are mechanical devices which sense engine load and speed. Through the centrifugal action of weights, the mechanical governor transmits a working force in movement to the governor throttle lever, through linkages connected to the carburetor or throttle body. This force is used to open or close the carburetor butterfly valve as the load varies.
